Industrial Product Testing:
All NOTRAX®
Floor Matting Products sold on Heavy Duty Mats are subject to rigorous testing
by independent laboratories prior to their introduction to the market.
Abrasion Resistance (ASTM D3884-92)
This is an accelerated wear test, where the results are expressed in total
weight loss of material when subjected to 5,000 cycles under an abrasion wheel.
Again, the rating in our charts is a relative comparison between all products in
this category. The greater the number, the greater the resistance to wear.
Compression Deflection (ASTM D3574)
This test assesses the anti-fatigue properties of industrial mats. The original
thickness of the mat is first measured without load. Then a compression load of
40 lbs. per square inch (PSI) is applied and the thickness under this load is
measured. When the difference between the two measurements is larger than
another mat (i.e. it's "deflection"), the greater the anti-fatigue properties of
that mat. A higher rating in our chart designates a greater deflection value and
therefore anti-fatigue property versus other mats.
Coefficient of Friction (ASTM C 1028-89)
designed to assess the slip resistance of our matting, the test measures the
force required to cause slippage of a 50 lb. load across the surface material.
The coefficient is the ratio of force required divided by the weight. The
greater the coefficient of friction ratio, the better the slip resistance is of
the mat. The 1-2- 3 rating in our chart puts the higher coefficient of friction
ratios as a "3" and the lowest as a "1".
