The Card Identification Number (also known as CVV2, CVC2,
and CID) is a set of numbers that are printed on your card,
rather than being embossed in the plastic like the digits of your credit card
number. These numbers help ensure that your credit card is not used
fraudulently. Visa, MasterCard, and Discover cards have a 3-digit
number printed on the signature panel on the back of the card. AMEX
Cards have a 4-digit number printed above the last several digits of your
credit card number on the face of your card.
